With over 30 years of experience, and a career encompassing several pioneering transactions, Charin Satchayan is one of Thailand’s most revered and experienced practitioners.
Charin obtained his LL.B. from Ramkhamhaeng University and Post Graduate Diploma in Business Law from Thammasat University, respectively two of Thailand’s leading institutions. He later earned a Fulbright scholarship to pursue his Masters in the US at Cornell University, part of the prestigious Ivy League. He also completed an Executive MBA from SASIN School of Management.
Charin has assembled formidable expertise in REITs, real estate developments, capital markets, M&A, Banking and Finance and Private Wealth. He has received landmark instructions and acted for market leaders within the hotel, energy, real estate, infrastructure, aviation and financial services industries, among others.
In the late 90s, while working at Baker & McKenzie, Bangkok Office, Charin established himself as a go-to for business-critical mandates during the Asian Financial Crisis, serving as an advisor for substantial recapitalisation to several of Thailand’s most prominent banks, including 4 of the 5 largest, i.e. Bangkok Bank, Siam Commercial Bank, Kasikorn Bank and TMB Bank
Over the recent decades, he has also helped pioneer the domestic REIT market, boasting the distinction of having represented the majority of the sector’s largest names, in projects spanning the retail, industrial, office, residential and hotel fields. Charin is also a go-to for major M&A transactions, both public and private, and is likewise a stellar name in the Capital Market field, having notably acted on the c.$500m IPO of Bangkok Airways.
His market repute sees Charin serve as a member of the Takeover Panel, as appointed by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand.
From 2010 to 2017, Charin has been appointed by the Asian Development Bank as National Legal Expert to support various ADB projects on Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) and capital markets studies, subsidized by ADB to the Thai authorities.
